OVERVIEW
Jamu Naturopathy ("us", "we", "our") takes the privacy of your personal and health information seriously. This policy clearly explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It describes our current practices and isn't an independent certification or audit.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Your name, address, email, and phone number
Date of birth
The health history and medical background you share with us during intake forms and consultations
Notes and details from your treatments and consultations
Pathology or functional test results you provide, or that we order on your behalf
Payment and billing details
Basic website usage data (like device type and browser) when you visit our site or use our online booking
HOW WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION
We collect this directly from you. When you book or attend an appointment (in person or by telehealth), fill out an online form or questionnaire, contact us by phone or email, or browse our website. If you're referred by another provider, we may also receive relevant health information from them with your consent.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use your information to provide your consultations and treatment, manage bookings, payments and follow-up care, communicate with you about appointments, and meet our legal and professional obligations. We won't use your information for our own marketing or advertising, and we'll only send you newsletters or updates if you've opted in.
TELEHEALTH CONSULTATIONS
If you see us via video or phone consultation, your information is handled with the same care and confidentiality as an in-person visit. We use a secure, encrypted platform for these sessions and won't record a session without your written consent. For your own privacy, we'd recommend joining from a private space on a secure device.
SHARING INFORMATION
We don't share any information unless you ask us to. With your consent, we may share a summary with your GP or another healthcare provider, or send a request to a pathology provider. We also rely on a small number of service providers to run the practice such as our practice management platform (Simple Clinic) and payment processors which your information may pass through these systems only to deliver our services to you. We may also be required to disclose information if the law requires it. We never sell or rent your information to third parties.
HOW WE KEEP IT SAFE
Your clinical records are held in a password-protected system with encryption in place. Sensitive health information is encrypted at rest, and everything is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to your treating practitioner and our clinic administrator, and access is logged.
COOKIES AND WEBSITE DATA
Our website may use cookies or basic analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.
OTHER WEBSITES
Our site may link to other websites. We're not responsible for their privacy practices, so it's worth checking their own policies if you follow a link.
HOW LONG WE KEEP RECORDS
Clinical records are retained for seven years from your last consultation, in line with Australian health record requirements [longer for minors — check your state's requirements]. If we ever change practice management systems, your information is removed from the old system within 90 days, though it may remain in secure encrypted backups for up to 12 months after that.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask to access your records, correct anything that's inaccurate, request deletion of non-clinical data, or ask us to limit how we use it. You can also withdraw consent for things like newsletters at any time. To do any of this, email hello@jamunaturopathy.com.
